Bottom club FC Twente boosted their Eredivisie survival hopes with a 2-0 home win over PEC Zwolle.
Jeroen van der Lely and Michael Maria both scored in the first half to push FC Twente within a point of Sparta Rotterdam and three of Roda, who both have played a match more and occupy the relegation play-off spots.
Defender Van der Lely fired Twente in front in the 21st minutes with an angled drive and Maria stabbed in a second before half-time when cutting into the left-side of the penalty area.
Zwolle, meanwhile, saw their hopes of securing a place in the Europa League qualifier play-offs dented further on Tuesday evening after Heerenveen later moved up above them into the top seven with a 2-0 win over Den Haag.
New Zealand forward Marco Rojas struck twice in the second half to leave the hosts in sixth place.
Rojas headed Heerenveen in front in the 53rd minute and made sure of victory when he tapped in at the far post with 15 minutes left.
