Ajax reduced the gap on Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven to four points as they thrashed basement boys NAC Breda 5-0 at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Sunday.

Dusan Tadic opened the scoring with a 38th-minute penalty and substitute Kasper Dolberg made it 2-0 eight minutes after the break.

Gervane Kastaneer scored an own goal just before the hour mark, Tadic netted again in the 67th minute, and four minutes later, Erik Palmer-Brown became the second NAC player to put the ball into their own net.

Feyenoord, 11 points behind Ajax in third, lost 1-0 at Groningen, where Sven van Beek netted an own goal in the first half.

Excelsior moved up two places from 16th to 14th and pushed Emmen into the bottom three after coming from behind to beat them 2-1 at home.

Michael De Leeuw's 59th-minute opener was cancelled out three minutes later by Marcus Edwards, and three minutes after that, Dennis Eckert put the hosts in front.
