AZ Alkmaar left-back Tim de Cler has joined Eredivisie rivals Feyenoord on a four-year deal.

The Holland international refused the offer of a new contract at the DSB Stadion and AZ decided to let the defender depart this summer.

Feyenoord have beaten PSV Eindhoven to the signing of De Cler, who passed a medical with the Rotterdammers on Friday.

De Cler is new Feyenoord coach Bert van Marwijk's first major signing since taking over at De Kuip earlier this month.

The 28-year-old joins former Excelsior pair Luigi Bruins and Andwele Slory in moving to Feyenoord prior to next season.

De Cler's deal will officially go through on 1st July.

AZ have moved quickly to find a replacement for De Cler by signing 19-year-old defender Sebastien Pocognoli from KRC Genk.

Louis van Gaal has paid ‚é¼2.75million (£1.85m) for the highly-rated left-back and beat off competition from a number of European clubs.

Pocognoli, who is a member of Belgium's European Under 21 Championship squad, has signed a five-year deal with AZ.
