Defender ends seven-year spell in Rotterdam to join Turkish side

Brazilian defender Andre Bahia has departed Feyenoord for Turkish club Samsunspor on a three-year contract. The 27-year-old ends a seven-year stint in Rotterdam after joining the Eredivisie club from native side Flamengo in 2004. Bahia, who notched up over 150 appearances for Feyenoord and lifted the Dutch cup with the club in 2007-08, admits he is sorry to be leaving. "I will sorely miss this club and this city," Bahia told Feyenoord's official website. "It will take time to get used to being (at Samsunspor) after all those years at Feyenoord. "But for me personally it is important that I can be of value. "

Structure

He added: "Samsunspor have a beautiful and large training complex and the structure of the club seems to be very well in order. "The club is ambitious and wants players to obtain more. After talking with the coach I have a good feeling." Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel thanked Bahia for his commitment to the club over the past seven seasons. "We are enormously grateful to Andre for his commitment over the last few years," he said. "That he has played here for almost seven seasons says much about this player and his character. "His departure now is probably the best solution for all parties."
