Rene Hake has stood down as FC Twente's head coach after a poor start to the season.
The club lie 15th in the Eredivisie after taking only six points from their first eight games, leading Hake to relinquish his duties.
He will remain at the club in a new role yet to be determined, with his assistant Marino Pusic taking caretaker charge until a permanent replacement is found.
Technical director Jan van Halst told the club's website: "We are convinced this season's team will not be in trouble but we cannot get away from the fact we have had a very bad start to the season.
"This is a difficult decision, especially for Rene himself. At the same time, it says a lot about him - the interests of FC Twente are at the forefront and he wants a turnaround."
