Tomasz Rzasa is on the move after Heerenveen opted against extending his deal.Tomasz Rzasa is on the lookout for a new club after Heerenveen decided against extending his contract.
The Pole turned up for pre-season training on Monday and was surprised to learn his contract had not been extended.
Rzasa joined Heerenveen from Partizan Belgrade last summer, signing a one-year deal with an option to extend by a further 12 months if he played 70 percent of the club's matches.
The defender did play the required games, but the terms of his contract stated he had to inform the club if he wanted to extend his stay.
Rzasa did not inform the club and they have opted against extending his deal.
The Pole is now on the lookout for a new club and Heerenveen are hopeful he can find a new home to avoid any unrest.
"We hope it does not come to an arbitrary commission," Heerenveen coach Gertjan Verbeek told Leeuwarder Courant.
"Now Tomasz seeks another club. He and we have the good hope that he will find employment on a free transfer.
"If he wants to go to the World Cup, then he still has to play one year on a good level."
Meanwhile, Heerenveen have sanctioned the loan of Jerrel Wolfgang to Helmond Sport.
The 21-year-old has risen through the youth ranks at Heerenveen, but has yet to make the breakthrough into the first team and has been sent out on loan to increase his experience.
