Youngsters complete one-year loan deals to Dutch outfit

Chelsea duo Nemanja Matic and Slobodan Rajkovic have completed their loan moves to Vitesse Arnhem. The Serbian youngsters have both agreed one-year loan deals at the Dutch side who finished a respectable 14th in the Eredivise last season. Matic, who recently turned 22 this month joined Chelsea from Slovakian side Kosice in the summer of 2009 and made three substitute appearances for the Stamford Bridge club last season. Rajkovic is a central defender and has yet to play for the Blues but has experience of playing in Holland having had loan spells at PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente where he was part of the side that won the league under Steve McClaren. The 21-year-old joined the champions from OFK Beograd in the summer of 2007 but has failed to make an impression at the club.

Option

"Rajkovic and Matic are the first two signings since Merab Jordania took over the club," Vitesse's technical director Ted van Leewen told a press conference. "Vitesse had been monitoring both players for quite a while, but lacked the financial resources to make a move for them before. "We have an option to buy both players at the end of the season. Vitesse are very pleased that Rajkovic and Matic have joined the club." Vitesse are currently managed by Theo Bos, who had a long playing career at the club, and are in action away to Feyenoord at the weekend where Matic and Rajkovic could be in line for a start. The Dutch club are also on the verge of signing Croatian goalkeeper Matej Delac, also on a one-year loan deal from Chelsea, but the transfer of the 18-year-old has yet to be finalised.
