Jamie Carragher and Matt Le Tissier discuss the major talking point surrounding a penalty appeal involving Shane Long

Did Shane Long handle the ball during the EFL Cup semi-final win against Liverpool? Jamie Carragher and Matt Le Tissier have their say...

The Sky Sports pundits were in the studio for the second leg match on Wednesday evening, which was won by Southampton as Shane Long's late strike sealed a 2-0 aggregate victory.

However, in the 84th minute, the ball appeared to strike Long on the shoulder as Southampton tried to clear the ball from their area, but Liverpool's penalty appeals were dismissed by referee Martin Atkinson.

One man who was sure of the outcome was Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who told Sky Sports after the game: "When we are part of things like a handball, it could be nice to hear a whistle from the referee.

"I don't know how often it has happened this season and usually we say nothing about it and you think 'after Man United, it was a clear offside goal and nobody says anything' and today, a clear handball and no one says anything."
