Brendan Rodgers says England should copy Scotland's approach to fixtures

Brendan Rodgers says the FA should copy Scotland's approach to solve the problem of fixture congestion.
English sides are approaching the notoriously busy festive period in which they traditionally play a large number of matches in a short space of time.
Fixture congestion has regularly been cited as a reason for the lack of success that England have enjoyed at national level, and there have been repeated calls for English football to adopt a winter break.
However, Celtic boss Rodgers believes the solution to the issue could be just over the border. He believes the Carabao Cup should be completed before Christmas, just like the Scottish League Cup.
Rodgers said: "I think it works very well up here. If I was working in England, I would be looking at what they do up here.
"If the Carabao Cup was slotted in before Christmas, I think it would work very well. That would allow you to still play yor Christmas games and then start the FA Cup a few weeks later.
"It's also the quality of the football. It's very difficult to ask the players to play with the same intensity with two games in three days. Sometimes the level will suffer."
Ahead of Celtic's trip to play Hearts on Sunday, Rodgers had positive news regarding Dedryck Boyata, saying he is fit despite having to come off against Hamilton on Wednesday.
However, the news regarding Tom Rogic was less positive, with Rodgers saying he is likely to be out until the New Year with a knee injury.
You can watch Hearts vs Celtic live on Sky Sports from 12pm on Sunday.
