PFA Fans' Player of the Year - 2009/10 Winners

Wayne Rooney, Graham Dorrans, Rickie Lambert and Kasper Schmeichel take the honours in the Fans' Player of the Year Awards.

Premier League

Wayne Rooney may be out of action at the moment but there's no keeping the Manchester United striker out of the headlines. Just days after the England talisman was named PFA Players' Player of the Year, we can reveal that Wayne has now been crowned the PFA Fans' Player of the Year too. As was the case in the fight for the PFA's main award on Sunday, the United ace has again beaten off the challenge of Cesc Fabregas, Didier Drogba and Carlos Tevez; all monthly winners in their own right. Fernando Torres was also a contender, as the first monthly winner back in September, but it's Rooney who adds the overall prize to his three monthly awards. Until his untimely injury, it was goals as well as gongs all the way for a player - Fans' winner in 2006 - who still leads the chasing pack on the race for the Golden Boot, despite his enforced lay-off. Championship

Whilst Wayne walks off with the Premier League prize, the title of Fans' Player of the Year in the Championship goes to one of the most prolific goalscoring midfielders in the country...Graham Dorrans. The former Livingstone man has played a key role in West Brom's return to the top flight this season, scoring 17 goals so far from the centre of the park. Named in the PFA Team of the Year for the Championship, Graham was also voted the second best player outside the Premier League at the Football League awards. He's also been the subject of a cheeky transfer bid from West Ham United, which Albion unsurprisingly rejected out of hand. Click here for the full article

League One

Fans' Player of the Year in League One is Rickie Lambert whose goals - more than 30 of them in all competitions - fired Southampton from the very foot of the table to the brink of the play-offs in what has been an exceptional season for player and club. But for Saints' ten points' deduction, they would be firmly entrenched in the play-off places and Rickie could have been looking at another trip to Wembley where he was on target in Southampton's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final win recently. Saints boss Alan Pardew rates Lambert, who was also named in the PFA Team of the Year, as the division's best player in his position, and few would disagree with that. League Two

Another PFA divisional award winner, Kasper Schmeichel, is the Fans' Player of the Year in League Two and this latest award caps a memorable week for the young keeper, and indeed Notts County who clinched the League Two title on Tuesday. After playing 40 games and a major part in County's promotion push, Schmeichel will be leaving the club next month, but his performances will live long in the memory of Magpies' fans who have taken him to their heart. County Chief executive Jim Rodwell explained: "Kasper has performed brilliantly all season and throughout all of the problems behind the scenes he has remained a consummate professional. We would have loved to have kept Kasper but financially that just wasn't possible." Click here for the full article
