Belgium midfielder Steven Defour has returned to his homeland to join Anderlecht on a five-year deal.

The 26-year-old from Mechelen leaves Porto after three years to commit to the reigning Belgian champions until the summer of 2019.

Anderlecht chairman Roger Vanden Stock told the club's official website: "This is, in my opinion, one of the biggest transfers in Anderlecht's history.

"We are very proud that a player of Steven Defour's calibre has joined our team. I hope all our fans will appreciate him for his talent and his winner's mentality."

Defour, who can number Standard Liege and Genk among his former clubs, will wear the number 16 shirt at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.
