Mackie makes comeback while Miller returns up front
Scotland coach Craig Levein has named an experienced side for Friday's friendly clash in Cyprus, while Jamie Mackie will start in Larnaca.
The QPR attacker is expected to play out wide in a 4-5-1 formation, making his international comeback after a suffering a broken leg earlier in the year.
Barry Robson will start on the opposite flank and Kenny Miller returns up front after missing the last three internationals through suspension and injury.
There is only one change to Levein's regular back four from recent matches, with Steven Whittaker replacing the injured Alan Hutton at right-back.
Don Cowie lines up alongside Darren Fletcher and James Morrison in central midfield while Allan McGregor starts in goal.
Levein is expected to hand debuts to a number of players from the bench as his squad is severely depleted due to injuries.
Scott Brown, Charlie Adam and Graham Dorrans are injured, James Forrest was recalled to the Under-21s for their crucial European qualifier against Holland and Barry Bannan was left out following his recent arrest on suspicion of drink-driving.
Levein said: "I can say the lads have been excellent, they really have been. It's encouraging for me that we've got players on the fringes that I can bring in.
Experience
"I'm not saying they are all going to play but if they do get some game time that adds to the experience they have had in training and in my mind it makes it a little easier for me to choose them in matches if they are needed.
"It's a case of trying to strengthen the pool of players for next September. In the meantime it's up to myself and the players to be 100 per cent prepared."
Scotland will be looking to prepare for their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign where they have been drawn alongside Croatia, Serbia, Belgium, Macedonia and bottom seeds Wales.
Levein is optimistic of his side's chances of reaching Brazil and says the Tartan Army will benefit from not playing a world class side such as Spain.
"The difference between our last qualifying campaign, we had Spain in the group which effectively meant one place was taken because of the quality of that team, so the rest of us were fighting for that second spot," Levein added.
"I believe that in this group, it's so wide open that there are two places available."
Scotland team to play Cyprus: McGregor, Whittaker, Bardsley, Berra, G Caldwell, Cowie, Fletcher, Morrison, Miller, Mackie, Robson.
Subs from: Gilks, Samson, Crainey, Hanley, MacKenzie, Conway, McArthur, Snodgrass, Stevenson, Goodwillie, Mackail-Smith, Rhodes.
