Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy struck superb goals to help England beat Germany on Saturday, with an image emerging of their time together in the Championship underlining how far the pair have come.
The picture, taken in May 2013 as Leicester played Watford in the Championship play-off semi-final, showed Vardy on the bench alongside Foxes midfielder Danny Drinkwater and on-loan Kane.
After Kane reduced the deficit in Berlin, Vardy opened his international account before Tottenham's Eric Dier headed a late winner to cap a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down.
Drinkwater is expected to make his England debut against the Netherlands on Tuesday after an excellent season in which he has helped Leicester open up a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League with seven games remaining.
Kane revealed the trio had seen the photo and were reminiscing about it in the England camp.
"Me and Danny Drinkwater were having a joke and he showed me a picture of us three sitting there as we played at Watford," Kane said. "It is crazy. Football is a funny game and it can change quickly. It shows what hard work and dedication can do.
"We have come a long way, but it does not stop here as we have a lot of hard work to do to keep progressing and moving forward."
Vardy added: "I've seen the photo - it's crazy isn't it? What a difference a couple of years make."
