England U19s secured their third successive win at the European Championship to top Group B with a 2-1 victory over Croatia.

Chelsea forward Izzy Brown opened the scoring in the fourth minute before an own goal from Croatian defender Silvio Anocic doubled Aidy Boothroyd's side's advantage.

Nikola Moro pulled one back for Croatia in the second half but England held on to make in three from three as they move on to Thursday's semi-final against Italy.

With England's progress to the last four already secured, Boothroyd shuffled his pack to hand all of the outfield players in his squad game-time before the knockout stages.

The Young Lions made an early impression, taking the lead after just four minutes when Sheyi Ojo picked out Brown on the left and the Chelsea player skipped past two challenges before firing a low shot past goalkeeper Ivan Nevistic.

Boothroyd's men doubled their advantage five minutes later when Brown's cross was bundled into his own net by Anocic.

The Young Lions had the ball in the net for a third time in the 29th minute when Ademola Lookman fired home from close range, but that effort was chalked off with the Charlton forward having just strayed offside.

Croatia responded after the break and they could have pulled one back only for substitute Fran Brodic to fire over after being picked out by Matija Fintic's cross.

Freddie Woodman was then called into action, denying Croatia captain Moro, whose low shot looked set to find the bottom corner.

Woodman was beaten though just before the hour mark when Moro's stunning left-footed strike found the back of the net from 25-yards.

The goal gave Croatia hope but it was England who saw the game out to secure their third successive 2-1 victory of the competition.

Boothroyd and his squad's attentions will now turn to Italy, who they will face on Thursday for a place in next Sunday's final against either Portugal or France.
