England player ratings: Steve Howey's verdict on Slovenia match
Tuesday 11 October 2016 22:58, UK
England laboured to a 0-0 draw against Slovenia as Gareth Southgate took charge of his second Three Lions match.
The result leaves England top of Group F in World Cup qualifying, after mustering seven points from their first three games.
But how did the players get on in Slovenia? Steve Howey gives us his player ratings...
Joe Hart - 8
If it wasn't for him, I think England lose the game. The save in that top corner was outstanding.
Kyle Walker - 6
He could have done a bit better in possession and got forward a bit more, especially in the second half.
Gary Cahill - 6
Struggled a little bit. Slovenia only had one up front but him and Stones were indifferent, which is surprising.
John Stones - 6
The biggest thing for me was I always think his distribution is very good, but tonight it was a bit off.
Danny Rose - 6
Guilty of giving the ball away too easily, he got forward at the end but it was a little bit too late.
Eric Dier - 6
He usually breaks the play up and he did do that, but his distribution was poor today.
Jordan Henderson - 6
Some of his passing was a little bit wayward, but his commitment can't be faulted.
Theo Walcott - 5
Wasn't in the game. When he's got space to run into, he should - but sometimes he takes too long and makes the wrong decisions at the wrong times.
Jesse Lingard - 5
Poor. Anonymous in the first half. Second half, I saw him once to have a shot - but that was it.
Dele Alli - 6
He could have been in the game a lot more. He's a very good player but he didn't stamp his authority as I'd like him to do.
Daniel Sturridge - 6
He tried but it just wasn't his night. It just didn't work for him in front of goal.
Substitutes
Andros Townsend - 6
I thought he was a bit of a brighter spark when he came on. He tried to get on the ball and do stuff.
Wayne Rooney - 6
Not enough time to really do anything, but he did what he had to do. Didn't do much wrong.
Marcus Rashford - n/a
