England will face Switzerland in a friendly in June ahead of this summer’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 finals.

The Lionesses will take on the Swiss at the Tissot Arena in Biel on Saturday 10 June (5.15pm BST KO).

Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's side currently rank 16th in the world and are unbeaten in four games, having won the Cyprus Women's Cup.

The last time the two sides met was at the 2012 Cyprus Cup, when Fara Williams netted the only goal of the game on her 100th cap.

And the Arsenal midfielder believes that this type of high-level friendly is exactly what the squad needs.

"This game will be really good preparation for us ahead of the Euros. Switzerland are an excellent team and it's important that we are testing ourselves against the best sides before the tournament," she said.

"We learnt a lot at the SheBelieves Cup last month. We know we are capable of beating the best but also what areas we've got to work on if we want to be successful this summer.

"The games we have lined up before the Euros will allow us to build on this and make sure we're in the best possible position in July."

One area in which England will need to improve to boost their chances at the tournament is up front, with the side recently struggling for goals.

Sampson's team have scored just twice in their first five matches of 2017.

Their 10-game unbeaten run was ended by Norway with a 1-0 defeat before they played out a 0-0 draw with Sweden.

Narrow defeats to France (2-1) and Germany (1-0) at the recent SheBelieves Cup came either side of an unexpected 1-0 victory over the World Cup-winning hosts.

The Lionesses last scored at least two goals in a game back in October 2016, when they beat Spain 2-1 in a friendly.

However, vice-captain Jordan Nobbs is confident that their current goal drought will soon come to an end.

"I think we still take a lot of positives from those games. We had chances but maybe we weren't as clinical as we should have been. That's what those two teams - France and Germany - have always had, that final finish," she said.

"I think we're getting in the right areas, we're creating more chances, and I think that showed in the tournament.

"At the end of the day it's going to come down to the Euros and what we do there, and hopefully we've learnt a lot from those games in the SheBelieves."

Sampson has promised to work England's players harder than ever in their training camp, and 24-year-old Nobbs believes the players are ready to build on their third-place finish at the World Cup two years ago.

"The preparation and the belief is unbelievable, with what we've done over the last few years," Nobbs said.

"You can feel it in the team, and in the squad, and it's shown when we've played some of the top teams.

"We're competing and beating the USA on their home ground, and that shows how far we've come over the last few years.

"We are really believing going into the tournament this summer."

England's penultimate home fixture before their European Championship mission sees them face Italy in a friendly at Port Vale's Vale Park on Friday evening (7.45pm KO), before they play Austria in Milton Keynes on Monday (7.45pm KO).
