FA begin search to replace Dan Ashworth - could you become England's next technical director?
Tuesday 9 October 2018 14:37, UK
Ever wanted to help England win the next World Cup? Well, now is your chance as the FA begins their search to replace departing technical director, Dan Ashworth.
Last month, Sky Sports News broke the news that Ashworth was leaving his role after six years at the FA to take up a similar role at Brighton.
During Ashworth's time at the FA, England reached the World Cup semi-finals, won the U17 and U20 World Cups and also won the U19 European Championships.
On Tuesday, details of the job specification landed on the FA's website, explaining what credentials and characteristics they were looking for from Ashworth's successor.
The FA's new Technical Director will:
- Manage a budget of around £40m
- Ensure the pathway up to the England Men's senior team is always integrated
- Build on progress and success, ultimately delivering England senior teams who are ready to win in 2022 and 2023
- Be part of The FA executive, reporting directly into the CEO
- Be responsible for nearly 300 staff
- Have direct reports include the England senior men's manager, men's U21 coach and head of education
You will need a UEFA Pro Licence and have worked extensively in English football with personal values and behaviours that are aligned to those of The FA.
But be warned, the FA's website suggests you will need "resilience and the strength of character to cope with a large and broad agenda, high pressure moments and difficult decisions".
And if that hasn't put you off, the candidate "must be willing to undergo a rigorous screening and vetting process".
If you're still interested, you'll need to submit your application and CV before midnight on Tuesday, October 23.
