The Football Association has put discussions to change their name to the 'English FA' on hold.
Outgoing chief executive Martin Glenn and chairman Greg Clarke were keen to push through a 'rebrand' of the organisation, to help boost England's chances of landing the 2030 World Cup - and counter accusations of arrogance from associations abroad.
It's understood the FA board were unwilling to rubber stamp the changes.
The plans have been shelved for the time being - and will be revisited by Glenn's replacement Mark Bullingham when he takes up his role in the autumn.
Bullingham will step up from his position as chief commercial and football development officer to replace Glenn after his four-year stint as chief executive.
