Miller targeting England call

West Brom's Ishmael Miller hopes regular football in the Premier League can earn him an England call-up.

Striker hopes to prove his talent in top league

West Brom striker Ishmael Miller hopes regular football in the Premier League this term can earn him an England call-up. The 23-year-old, who joined the Baggies from Manchester City in 2008, was one of the hottest young prospects in the English game and earned several caps for the Under-21s. But a spate of injuries has seen Miller's progress hampered and his first target is to remain fit for the Baggies' Premier League campaign. However, with Fabio Capello promising to look towards youth for his England side, Miller is hoping that he can catch the Italian's eye. "I enjoyed playing for the Under-21s. Playing games when I'm at my best I feel I can do well," he told the Sunday Mercury. "The injuries stalled my progress. I'm not saying I would have been playing for England but I would have been a year or so nearer to that goal. "I have some catching up to do and I just want to do well this season. I'm not injured now and you never know. "People like myself can be encouraged by change. "Being in the Premier League now I know that if I play well then someone might say 'give him a chance'. "I'm not saying that will happen, but why not?"
