Norwich midfielder Graham Dorrans has been called up to the Scotland squad for their upcoming European Qualifiers.
Wolves player Kevin McDonald was forced to pull out of the squad on Sunday due to a lower back injury, despite scoring and setting up the other two goals in his side's 3-0 win over Huddersfield the day before.
Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew is also expected to fail a fitness test, so Dorrans has been given the call by Scotland head coach Gordon Strachan.
Former West Brom midfielder Dorrans last represented his country in October 2013, when he came on as a substitute in the 2-0 home win over Croatia in World Cup qualification.
"Charlie has been ruled out, pretty much," McGhee said.
Strachan also has injury concerns over Ikechi Anya, James Morrison and Darren Fletcher for the game with Poland at Hampden Park.
Anya went off with a muscle problem late in Watford's 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday.
West Brom midfielder Morrison, who is suspended against Poland but could face Gibraltar on Sunday, went off with an ankle problem against Crystal Palace, while Baggies boss Tony Pulis said Fletcher also finished the game with a knock.
Only 12 players were at Scotland's training session on Monday, but McGhee said most of the remaining squad members were simply having an easy day.
"The rest are absolutely fine," McGhee added. "The Celtic lads and (Steven) Naismith were just recovering from their games.
"Ikechi has had an ongoing thing which has meant he has missed the occasional session with his club but we don't expect it to be an issue."
Scotland lie fourth in Group D, six points behind second-placed Poland.
