Scotland will play Portugal in an international friendly on October 14, the Scottish FA has confirmed.

Alex McLeish's side will take on the reigning European champions at Hampden Park in the first meeting between the two nations since 2002.

The friendly has been scheduled for the weekend immediately following Scotland's trip to Israel in the inaugural UEFA Nations League.

The Tartan Army travel to the Middle East to face Israel on October 11 as they look to win promotion to League B.

Scotland also have international friendlies planned against Peru, Mexico and Belgium in the coming months as preparation for the start of the Nations League.
