Former Scotland coach Berti Vogts is recovering in hospital after having an operation on his heart.
The 68-year-old had a new valve fitted, according to the German Football Association.
Vogts told Bild newspaper: “They are taking excellent care of me, I am doing very well. I have known for the last three or four months that I needed a new heart valve."
Vogts, who has also been in charge of Nigeria, resigned as Azerbaijan coach in October after a 6-0 thrashing by Croatia.
He coached Germany to their European Championship triumph in 1996.
