Wales will play the Netherlands in a Cardiff friendly next month as part of their build-up towards the European Championships in France next year.

There had been talk that the game would be played at the 74,500-capacity Millennium Stadium but the Football Association of Wales has announced it will be staged at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday, November 13.

Manager Chris Coleman, who was keen to face strong opposition after securing qualification earlier this month, revealed that Italy were among the countries to turn down their offer of a friendly.

Netherlands miss out on Euro 2016 but what has gone wrong?

The Netherlands finished third at the 2014 World Cup finals but failed to qualify for Euro 2016 after finishing fourth in their group behind Czech Republic, Iceland and Turkey.

The two countries last met in June 2014 when the Netherlands won 2-0 at the Amsterdam Arena in their final warm-up game ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.

"We produced an excellent display when we last met the Netherlands," Coleman told the official FAW website.
