It's a trend which has been evident throughout history, with a Sky Sports study of birthplaces of international footballers revealing 123 Wales internationals were born in England.

I am holding two flags - England and Wales. I will be happy with a 2-2; I'm just hoping for a good game.
Vinnie Jones

England internationals born in Wales

In contrast, since the first international football match in 1872, just two players born in Wales have played for England.

Both men were born in Wrexham. The first was Fred Green, who won his only international cap in 1876 against Scotland. The other was former Liverpool right-back Rob Jones, who made his Three Lions debut in 1992 and played eight times for England.
