Northern Ireland fans salute Will Grigg on his return to Belfast

Will Grigg may have been an unused substitute during Northern Ireland's four matches at Euro 2016, but that did not stop him from receiving a hero's welcome on the squad's return to Belfast.

The Wigan Athletic striker received the biggest ovation from almost 10,000 fans who had gathered in the Titanic Quarter to salute their heroes.

Grigg's name was chanted in the stands throughout games, even though he never played, meaning his name was on the lips of may players - from the German squad to France legend Eric Cantona.

Manager Michael O'Neill said: "Football brings everyone together and I think it's fantastic. What we've done hopefully is break down the barrier that we would never get to a major tournament again and we want to try and get to the World Cup in 2018."
