Baggio emotional after quitting

Roberto Baggio was overwhelmed with emotion after playing his final game in professional football in a 4-2 defeat for Brescia at Milan.

Brescia's Baggio was given a rousing send-off by all in a packed Giuseppe Meazza stadium, and thanked the Milan fans for showing their appreciation.

"This has been my last match," confirmed the 'Divine Ponytail'.

"Today has been really emotional and beautiful. I must also thank the Milan supporters - who have been fantastic."

Baggio had hinted that he would welcome the chance to play for Italy in Euro 2004 as a final goodbye - but he admits this is looking unlikely.

"There hasn't been any recent contact (with Giovanni Trapattoni]. In the last few weeks there have been no phone calls."

Baggio admits that the only regret from his illustrious career is the famous penalty miss in the 1994 World Cup final.

"The only regret is the penalty I missed in the final of USA 94," confirmed the former Fiorentina idol.

"After that mistake I wanted to quit, but instead - after 19 years in football - I am celebrating a career with many joys.

"With my legs I have a feeling of love and hate. They have given me such joy, but as time passes, also many problems."

Baggio already has a suggestion of a player that can fill the void he leaves.

"Antonio Cassano can become a really great player."
