Jack Warner has denied signing a contract with Franz Beckenbauer four days before the vote to decide who would host the 2006 World Cup.

The German FA says former Germany international Beckenbauer, who was the head of its 2006 bid committee, signed the contract with Warner, who was president of CONCACAF at the time.

Germany won the vote and acting DFB president Reinhard Rauball, who took on the job alongside Rainer Koch following the resignation of Wolfgang Niersbach earlier this week, says the contract "amounted to bribery".

But Warner, who is banned from football for life and faces corruption charges in the United States, insists he did nothing wrong.

"I have no intention of joining in the circus of the international media, whose only objective seems to be to demean and denigrate," said Warner, who is a former member of FIFA's executive committee.

"Suffice to say, however, that I have never, ever had any agreement of any kind with anyone involved with Germany's hosting of the 2006 World Cup."
