Lyon midfielder looking to win first senior cap

Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons has been added to the France squad for friendly dates with the United States and Belgium. National coach Laurent Blanc has moved quickly to bolster his ranks after losing Samir Nasri to injury. The Manchester City playmaker was forced to pull out of the forthcoming international double-header with tendinitis in his knee. Nasri is not the only player carrying a knock, with Blanc still sweating on the fitness of other key figures.

Doubtful

Chelsea's Florent Malouda and Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye remain doubtful for a meeting with USA on Friday. Malouda is nursing a thigh problem while Cabaye is struggling with a groin complaint. Should the pair fail to make the America game, Blanc would be left short of options in the middle of the park. He has attempted to address that issue by drafting in Gonalons, and the 22-year-old will now be looking to win his first senior cap.
