Champions Monaco got back on track in Ligue 1 as Radamel Falcao scored two goals and assisted another in a comfortable 3-0 home victory over struggling Strasbourg.

Returning to winning ways after being thrashed 4-0 at Nice in their previous league outing, Leonardo Jardim's side - having already hit the bar through Stevan Jovetic - took the lead when Falcao teed up a close-range Rony Lopes finish a minute before half-time.

The Colombia striker then got on the scoresheet with a strike in the 51st minute having been set up by Jorge, before adding another in the 67th that took his record to nine goals in six league outings this term.

The three points move the principality club level on 15 with leaders Paris St Germain, who will look to extend their 100 per cent start to the season on Sunday when they face Lyon at the Parc des Princes.

St Etienne are up to third, two points behind the top two, after they won 1-0 at Strasbourg's fellow relegation zone-dwellers Dijon.

Jonathan Bamba netted the winner from the penalty spot in the 49th minute after being fouled in the visitors' area by Fouad Chafik.

Nantes are up two places to sixth following their victory by the same scoreline over Caen at the Stade de la Beaujoire.
