Carlos Carvalhal has passionately defended his record as Swansea boss and revealed he is "happy" with talks thus far about his future.
Swansea's relegation to the Sky Bet Championship was confirmed as they slipped to a 2-1 home defeat to already-relegated Stoke City on Sunday.
Carvalhal is almost certain to leave Swansea at the end of the season, Sky Sports News understands.
It is thought there is a growing belief behind the scenes at the Liberty Stadium he is not the man to lead the fight to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.
However, Carvalhal remains unsure of his future and admitted he had been "happy" with talks with the Swansea board.
"The owners called me yesterday about the possibilities of next season," he said.
"We will speak again on Monday - at this moment I will have reflections about myself, the club. After, I will make a decision. As you understand, it's very early to talk about that.
"I will talk with my agent. I was happy with the conversations yesterday. I must think about my life, talk about it with my family and make the best decision.
"This club is very special - they deserve to be in the Premier League as soon as possible."
In 24 matches in charge of Swansea, Carvalhal has overseen eight victories - including three in the FA Cup - eight losses and eight draws, but his team have not scored in six of their last nine games in all competitions.
Since beating relegation rivals West Ham 4-1 at the beginning of March, Swansea have picked up two points - draws against West Brom and Everton - in eight Premier League matches.
Despite their woeful recent run, Carvalhal issued a passionate defence of the job he has done at Swansea.
"We achieved 20 points - since I arrived we achieved more points than Stoke, Huddersfield, Watford, West Brom, Brighton and got the same points as Leicester," he said.
"The reality was the team in the first part of the season the team picked up just 13 points, so recover points was difficult for us."
