SPFL clubs change rules on clubs suffering insolvency

SPFL clubs have given their approval to tougher amendments to rules regarding insolvency in Scottish football.
Currently, any club suffering an insolvency event is deducted 15 points, unless it is that club's second liquidation event within five years, in which case 25 points are removed.
Representatives of all 42 clubs met at Hampden where they decided overwhelmingly to impose tougher rules, which mean that insolvency events that are part of the same insolvency process would be treated as a single deductible insolvency event.
Clubs subject to a deductible insolvency event would have fixed deductions of 15 points imposed immediately, plus a further five points at the start of the following season.
In a situation where a club has a second insolvency event within five years, the immediate points deduction would be 25 points, with a further 15 points removed at the beginning of the next campaign.
