The New York Red Bulls became the first team to qualify for the Major League Soccer play-offs with a 2-0 win at the Portland Timbers on Sunday.

First-half goals from Felipe and Damien Perrinelle were enough to seal the win at Providence Park - a result that also saw the Red Bulls move to the top of the Eastern Conference standings.

Defeat for the Timbers means they have failed to win any of their last four matches but they remain firmly in contention for the play-offs.
