Hollywood actor Will Ferrell and Cardiff owner Vincent Tan are among 26 co-owners of new MLS franchise Los Angeles FC.
The new franchise was launched on Thursday and will compete in the MLS from 2018 in place of defunct Chivas USA.
And the huge ownership group has been revealed as an unlikely alliance of big-name sports stars, sports businessmen... and Ferrell.
Los Angeles Lakers great Magic Johnson and former United States women's international footballer Mia Hamm are also involved along with QPR director Ruben Gnanalingam.
Hamm called Ferrell to the stage at the launch by asking: "You want in?" leading him to reply: "This is not a joke. I'm actually a member of this fine ownership group."
Tom Penn, formerly vice-president of the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers and now an analyst for ESPN, will act as president and work alongside executive chairman Peter Guber and managing partner Henry Nguyen.
Nguyen said: "From the outside it seems cumbersome. It's a joy to have such a collection of incredibly successful, experienced, talented people contributing their ideas."
