There was late drama in the MLS on Sunday as New England Revolution scored a penalty deep into stoppage time against Orlando City.

It looked as though Orlando had snatched victory when Kevin Molino scored in the second minute of added time to put them 2-1 ahead.

New England protested that there was a handball in the build-up to the goal, but the referee let it stand and soon it was Orlando venting their frustrations as Servando Carrasco was penalised for handball.

Referee Baldomero Toledo originally gave New England a free-kick but, after consultation with an assistant, he decided the infringement was inside the box and awarded a penalty, which Lee Nguyen scored to level the match up at 2-2.

New England Revolution head coach Jay Heaps said afterwards: "We felt there was a clear handball on their second goal, and then the handball at the other end clearly happened in the box, so it had to be a penalty-kick call. From my vantage point, I saw two clear handballs."
