Frank Lampard is on a hot scoring streak - but has been helped by a few fortuitous deflections!

Frank Lampard is in a hot run of goalscoring form - but profited from yet another deflection in New York City FC's latest win.

Lampard scored his fifth goal in six games for his MLS side in a 3-1 win over former Chelsea team-mate Didier Drogba and Montreal FC.

But the former Blues midfielder found the target again in fortuitous fashion on Sunday when he latched onto a pass that appeared intended for team-mate Jack Harrison and watched the ball bounce back onto his leg via Impact defender Wandrille Lefevre before looping over goalkeeper Evan Bush.

Frank Lampard scored a controversial goal as New York City FC beat Seattle Sounders 2-0.

Lampard opened his account for the season against Phildelphia Union last month when a deflected Tommy McNamara effort fell at his feet, while he diverted a McNamara cross in off his knee to seal a recent 1-0 win over New England Revolution.

One US commentator described Lampard's latest effort as a "donkey-touch goal" but is the former England international - famed for his bursts into the box - simply displaying his enduring prowess for being in the right place at the right time?
