Vancouver ended a three-game losing run as quickfire second-half goals from Cristian Techera and Anthony Blondell lifted the 10-man Whitecaps to a 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake.
Blondell blazed over with the goal seemingly at his mercy just seconds into the contest while both sides hit the bar - Real Salt Lake through Corey Baird and Brek Shea for the Whitecaps.
Nick Besler lost control of the ball in the area and brought down substitute Nicolas Mezquida, allowing Techera to slot home from the resulting penalty with a quarter of an hour remaining.
Techera celebrated by removing his jersey, earning a second yellow card, but Blondell made sure of the win in the 79th minute by getting the final touch to Alphonso Davies' shot.
