Roland Lamah scored the winner as FC Dallas recorded a 1-0 victory over Minnesota United on Friday night.
Santiago Mosquera teed up Lamah for the 59th-minute header which, coupled with goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez's third clean sheet of the season, saw FC Dallas clinch a fifth victory in six games to move level on points with Sporting Kansas City at the top of the Western Conference.
Dallas had an opportunity in the 23rd minute as midfielder Victor Ulloa sent a right-footed free kick over the wall, but his effort was punched clear by goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth.
Minnesota had two big chances on the stroke of half-time, but Gonzalez thwarted Rasmus Schuller's close-range header and Darwin Quintero's low drive in quick succession.
The hosts had another decent chance to take the lead six minutes after the interval, but forward Christian Ramirez flashed a low shot just wide.
Instead, it was the visitors who broke the deadlock as Mosquera's corner found Lamah in space in the area, and the Belgian winger netted his seventh goal of the season.
Minnesota United had a couple of chances to salvage a point but Ibson missed an open goal on 82 minutes before Mason Toye's final effort three minutes from time was kept out by Gonzalez.
