Nashville's Major League Soccer franchise have confirmed they will enter the competition at the start of the 2020 season.

The MLS' newest side will initially play at the Nashville Titans' Nissan Stadium until their own ground is ready.

Former Liverpool CEO Ian Ayre - now working in a similar role for Nashville - told the Nashville Tennessean: "That's been confirmed now by the league.

"We've always been working to that date and at the recent league meetings that was confirmed.

"I don't think it was a surprise. It was just a bit of sequencing, it doesn't change anything for us. We're very happy to be starting then."

Ayre stressed the help shown by the Titans towards their new neighbours in working out arrangements for the temporary groundshare.

"They continue to be a great neighbour and a great partner, really," he said.

"We're very happy to start over there, start our journey and then, once our own home's ready, we'll move in."

"In terms of this city, (Nissan Stadium) ticks all the boxes that we would need for that interim solution: Good stadium, good facilities, good capacity. We're just excited to get going."

Ayre also revealed he expects the new 30,500-seat stadium to be ready for the MLS team's second season in 2021.
