From fixtures and fun facts to the key men, all you need to know about Switzerland ahead of this summer's World Cup.

Star man: Xherdan Shaqiri - The Stoke winger assisted five goals in the Swiss' qualifying campaign.

How they qualified: A 1-0 aggregate victory over Northern Ireland in the European play-offs, having been pipped to first on goal difference by Portugal in Group B.

History: 10 finals appearances, reaching the quarter-finals in 1934, 1938 and 1954.

Fun fact: Became the first team to exit the World Cup without conceding a goal in 2006 - the 3-0 loss on penalties to Ukraine also saw them become the first side not to score in a shootout.

Best World Cup moment: A 1-0 victory against Spain in 2010 stunned the world - it was in the group-stage opener against the Euro 2008 champions, leaving many in doubt over Spain's credentials, though they did indeed recover to lift the World Cup trophy.
