Sunderland are in talks with Celtic about signing midfielder Lewis Morgan on loan, according to Sky sources.
Morgan has struggled for game-time this season, starting just one match in all competitions for Brendan Rodgers' side.
Sunderland manager Jack Ross is understood to be keen on bringing the 22-year-old to the Stadium of Light, having worked with him at St Mirren.
During his time at the Simple Digital Arena, Morgan scored 29 goals in 118 games.
Sunderland are also understood to be close to signing two strikers ahead of the January transfer window deadline on Thursday.
Wigan striker Will Grigg is believed to be one of the forwards close to a move to the League One side, who have already had four bids rejected for the Northern Ireland international.
