Liverpool have an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Bradley Barcola for a package worth £120m.
The deal has not been finalised, with last details still being discussed, but there has been a breakthrough in negotiations.
There had been a gap in valuation between the two clubs throughout the summer, with PSG previously asking for around £145m for the France international.

The final detail of the proposed deal is still to be agreed but the £120m fee is understood to now be fixed in place as the value Liverpool will be paying for the 23-year-old.
Should Barcola complete his proposed transfer to Anfield, he would be Liverpool's second most expensive signing of all time, following the club-record deal to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle for £125m last summer.
The signing of Barcola would take their overall spend since the end of the 2024/25 season to just over £663m, after also spending £116.5m on Florian Wirtz as well as signing Milos Kerkez, Hugo Ekitike, Victor Munoz, Jeremy Jacquet, Giovanni Leoni and Jeremie Frimpong.
Should Liverpool get this deal over the line before the deadline, it would allow Cody Gakpo to leave Anfield, with Tottenham and Manchester City both interested in the Dutchman.
Liverpool are also trying to sign a second new winger, with their target currently Crystal Palace's Ismaila Sarr following difficult negotiations with Brighton for Yankuba Minteh.
Iraola on Barcola: Hopefully good news soon
Speaking on Thursday about Liverpool's move for Barcola, head coach Andoni Iraola said: "We are trying to sign in that position. We cannot talk about players that are, right now, not ours.
"It's evident we are trying to improve or to fill that position because we don't have the numbers. I hope we can have good news soon."
Liverpool's search for a second winger
Liverpool have approached Palace over a potential deal for Sarr.
Andoni Iraola's side are considering their options after talks stalled with Brighton over Minteh. Brighton are holding out for £80m after rejecting two bids from Liverpool, the latest worth £60m.
Meanwhile, Palace have no intention of letting Sarr go at this stage and consider the 28-year-old to be not for sale. He has three years left on his contract.
Sarr missed Palace's opening weekend defeat at Everton. Reports claimed he was refusing to train but it is understood that the winger is currently injured.

Lyon would receive a share of Bradley Barcola's transfer fee should he leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, Sky Sports News understands.
The French champions signed Barcola from Lyon in 2023 for £38.6m (€45m) with the deal including a sell-on clause.
It is understood that while a £120m deal with Liverpool has not been completed yet, it is progressing well with PSG's president and sporting director continuing talks from the Champions League draw in Monaco.
The transfer would be a record for a player leaving the French league, with PSG making a significant profit on a player who has helped the club win two Champions League titles in three seasons.
Carra: I'd love Barcola at Liverpool - but they need to replace Salah!
Sky Sports' Jamie Carragher believes that Barcola is not the profile of player Liverpool should be prioritising, despite admitting he would be a "great" signing for the club.
The former defender has said Liverpool should be prioritising the signing of a right-winger to replace Mohamed Salah after the Egypt forward left the club at the end of last season.
Barcola predominantly operates off the left wing but has featured on the opposite flank during his time at PSG.
"He's a great player, there's no doubt about that - I'd love to get Barcola at Liverpool," Carragher told Sky Sports News. "But he's a left winger for me.
"Liverpool's big thing that stands out like a sore thumb right now is replacing Mo Salah, a right winger. And I don't think Liverpool have got anybody really in the squad who looks fully comfortable playing right wing.
"They probably have at least four players in the squad before Barcola joins, if he joins, who could play on the left-hand side comfortably.
"Now, I'm not saying any of those players are better than Barcola. But in terms of the balance of the squad, it's not the position Liverpool need right now. They need a right winger.
"But if you're saying to me, do I want Barcola to come and Liverpool are going to sign a right winger as well? I'll be absolutely delighted because players would have to move on. Of course they would.
"But right now, I felt this summer would be about replacing Mo Salah. Barcola doesn't replace Mo Salah."
