Blues manager says negotiations are ongoing

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is not expecting a quick resolution in his bid to sign Bolton defender Gary Cahill, despite the two clubs agreeing a fee. The England stopper's move to Stamford Bridge was expected to go through as soon as this month's transfer window opened after the Blues settled on a price with the Trotters, thought to be around £5million. However, Villas-Boas suggested the deal had hit a snag last week when he said the two parties were 'miles apart' regarding an agreement. And, speaking after Chelsea's 2-1 victory at Wolves on Monday, the Portuguese boss said negotiations were still ongoing. He said: "It's an ongoing process. I never thought it would be solved quickly." Cahill is out of contract at the Reebok Stadium in the summer and the Trotters do not want to risk losing him on a free transfer. The 26-year-old joined Bolton from Aston Villa nearly four years ago and he has made almost 150 appearances for the club, establishing himself as one of the Premier League's top centre-halves.
