Fulham make their move for Argentine forward

Catania chief executive Pietro Lo Monaco claims the club have received an offer for Argentine forward Maxi Lopez from Fulham. The South American is expected to head for pastures new during the January transfer window, with a number of clubs reported to be chasing his signature. It is believed that the former Barcelona forward would prefer to remain in Serie A after enjoying a productive spell with Catania. Fiorentina are among those believed to be keen, with the Viola having agreed to offload Alberto Gilardino to Genoa. There is, however, a chance that Maxi could be lured away from Italy, with Fulham keen to take him to England.

Evaluating

Martin Jol has been linked with a number of strikers over recent weeks and Catania claim the Dutchman has made the first move for Maxi. "On Maxi Lopez there are no developments as yet, but an offer has been received from Fulham and we are evaluating it," Lo Monaco told Radio Mana Mana. "We are waiting to see what the Italian clubs will do. "AC Milan are definitely out, while we will see what happens with Fiorentina. Lazio? I don't think they need Maxi."
