Wolves defender secured on emergency loan deal

Nottingham Forest have completed the emergency loan signing of Wolves defender George Elokobi. Elokobi has played 74 games for Wolves during his four-year spell at Molineux but has struggled to consolidate a regular place in the starting line-up. With only eight appearances for Wolves in the Premier League this season and five coming as a substitute, Elokobi will be looking use the move to build a run of starts. The loan deal could see the former Colchester player stay at the City Ground until the end of the season.

Opportunity

A 24-hour recall clause will come into effect after the first 28 days of the loan but Wolves boss Mick McCarthy believes the switch gives Elokobi a chance to get first team football. "This loan move gives George the chance to go out and try and get some games," he said. "We've got all of our defenders back fit now and this should give George an opportunity to play." The Cameroon-born defender will join Wolves team-mate Adlene Guedioura, who is already at Forest on loan. Elokobi could feature for Forest on Saturday as they host 16th-place Watford as they battle to try and find a way out of the Championship relegation zone.
