Townsend joins Championship club Birmingham on loan

Birmingham City have completed the loan signing of Tottenham winger Andros Townsend for the remainder of the season. Townsend had been on loan at Leeds United but his spell was cut short after manager Neil Warnock stated the youngster had failed to settle. The 20-year-old made six Championship appearances for the Whites, including finding the net in last weekend's 3-2 win over Doncaster Rovers. Townsend joins a team challenging for automatic promotion and he could make his debut in Saturday's clash with Nottingham Forest. Townsend is eager to start his Blues career after Tweeting: "Officially a Birmingham city player until the end of season! Can't wait to get started!" The youngster has also spent time on loan with Yeovil, Leyton Orient, Milton Keynes Dons, Ipswich, Watford and Millwall. Townsend would be eligible to play in the Championship play-offs should Chris Hughton's squad qualify.
