Ecuador winger Jefferson Montero has revealed that he will be leaving Mexican side Monarcas Morelia after receiving an offer from Europe.
The 24-year-old was ever-present at the World Cup despite Ecuador failing to progress from Group E, and he has previously been linked with a host of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, West Ham, West Brom and Swansea.
Cardiff City and Wigan have also shown interest in him during recent transfer windows and the former Villarreal man is now set for an exit after two years in Mexico.
Montero confirmed that he will departing Liga MX this summer and expects a deal to be wrapped up in the near future.
"It’s certain that I’ll leave the league, but let’s see where I’ll go. We expect to sort it out within the next few days," he told ESPN Deportes.
"I already have an offer, the club are handling it. Let’s see where I’ll go but for now I have some days off.
When pushed for further details, Montero added: "I can tell you that it won’t be Mexico. It will be Europe and thank God we are working on it, I hope it works out."
