Striker to stay till the end of the season

Leicester City have extended the loan of striker Martyn Waghorn until the end of the season. The 19-year-old moved to the Walkers Stadium in August from Sunderland, and has impressed for the Foxes so far this term. Waghorn has scored five goals in 20 appearances, propelling Leicester into the play-off places in the Championship. Foxes manager Nigel Pearson was delighted to extend the forward's stay at the club, and says the player will benefit from the experience. "We have agreed to extend it for the rest of the season and that will be when the current loan deal expires," he told the club's official website. "It will be with the same criteria as the original loan, because it is a youth loan and it gives Sunderland a 24-hour recall option. "He is enjoying it here and we are delighted to have him. Sunderland have been on the scouting list for a lot of our games. "For a player of his age from a Premiership club this is a good experience for him. "Both clubs benefit because he is getting vital experience and we have the services of a player who has a lot of potential." Leicester's next game is a home tie against Ipswich on Sunday, although Waghorn is suspended for the match following his red card against Bristol City.
