President insists coach will not be sacked
Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has publically backed coach Gian Piero Gasperini after earlier criticising him.
Preziosi disagreed with 'certain tactical decisions' made by Gasperini after his team's 3-1 home defeat to Chievo at the weekend.
This led to speculation that Gasperini could be sacked but Preziosi insists the coach is safe in his job.
He told
Gazzetta dello Sport: "I don't sack coaches, especially after two rounds of games played.
"I just expressed my opinion (after the game) regarding certain tactical decisions that were taken by the coach and which I wasn't in agreement with. But that is all.
"Gasperini remains the coach. I have confidence in him and I just don't change my mind after one bad game."
Gasperini has been in charge of the Grifoni since 2006 and led the club to promotion to Italy's top flight in his first season with the team.
Genoa have three points from their first two games after winning their Serie A opener 1-0 at Udinese and next travel to Parma on Sunday.
