Shrewsbury 1-2 Gillingham

Andy Smith scored his first goal since April to give Gillingham all three points in a 2-1 win against Shrewsbury at Croud Meadow.

The centre-back was first to react when a late deflected cross from sub Bradley Dack came off the bar, and Smith was well placed to convert from a few yards.

Harry Waldock had put the visitors in front after just a few minutes, netting his first senior goal in the process, only for George Lloyd to equalise around the hour mark from the penalty spot.

The Shrews were indebted to goalkeeper Will Brook, who made two outstanding saves from Ronan Hale and Conor McManus, but Smith finally found a way through for Gareth Ainsworth's side.

Waldock gave Gills a third-minute lead, latching on to a low driven cross from McManus before converting from six yards.

Brook made an incredible save before the break, somehow clawing away Hale's effort from inside the box, before pulling off another excellent stop to deny McManus.

Lloyd brought the game level on 59 minutes from the spot when James Brophy was judged to have fouled Tom Sang, and the striker sent Wright the wrong way.

The game was decided on 80 minutes when Dack's cross into the box deflected onto the bar, and Smith was on hand to convert from close range.
