Southend are expected to make a number of changes to the team which lost to Scunthorpe in the FA Cup for Wednesday night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie with Bristol Rovers at Roots Hall.
Winger Stephen McLoughlin is out injured after getting a knock at the weekend.
However, defender Adam Barrett is back from an ankle injury and hoping to be included in the side.
Defender Adam Thompson has not featured for the Shrimpers since dislocating his shoulder in April, but could also be included.
Rovers will also be out to recover from suffering their own FA Cup shock, losing at home to non-league Chesham.
Pirates boss Darrell Clarke issued an apology after the late 1-0 loss to the Southern League minnows, but has seen his side in decent away form in Sky Bet League 2 so far as they look to move a step closer to Wembley by securing a place in the southern area semi-finals.
Forward Jamie Lucas, back from a promising loan stint at Boreham Wood, could come into contention having been left on the bench on Sunday.
Ellis Harrison is away with the Wales Under-21 squad.
